Rihanna’s Side Tattoos
Rihanna has two tattoos located on her sides, which are also two of the most discrete body tattoos Rihanna has. Despite their small size however, both of Rihanna’s side tattoos make big statements. Rihanna’s first side tattoo was inked on her left ribcage just below her breast, and reads “Al-Hurria fi Al-Maseeh,” which is Arabic for “Freedom in God.” Rihanna’s second side tat is a small handgun inked across her ribcage and just below her armpit, on the right side of her body. Rihanna’s side tattoos have garnered quite a bit of public attention, both good and bad, one because some believe Rihanna’s Arabic tattoo is spelled wrong, and two because Rihanna’s gun tattoo
was inked in the midst of the abuse rumors involving the superstar and former boyfriend, Chris Brown, who also has a tattoo that used to match Rihanna’s stars tattoo on her neck, until she added more stars to run down her back.
Rihannas Gun Tattoo
Although Rihanna’s gun tattoo seems to illustrate violence, friends of Rihanna have put the criticism to rest by stating that her gun tattoo simply represents power and strength. Rihanna’s gun tattoo is very small and discrete and, however controversial, clearly means something important to the R&B star. Rihanna has been seen wearing a small gun necklace, which some believe was the inspiration for Rihanna’s gun tattoo. There are also pictures of Rihanna sporting two handgun tats, one above each of the superstar’s armpits, but these tattoos were only temporary, and were ultimately discarded in favor of Rihanna’s current gun tattoo.
Rihannas Arabic Tattoo
Rihanna’s Arabic tattoo is also relatively small and easily covered up by clothing. A number of celebrities besides Rihanna have gotten Arabic tattoos on their bodies, inspired by the beauty of the traditional Islamic language. Angelina Jolie, for instance, has an Arabic script tattoo inked on her right forearm which means “determination.” Arabic tattoos like this Rihanna tattoo give tattoo seekers an opportunity to get a word or phrase inked on their body without it being easily interpreted by everyone around them. Rihanna’s Arabic tattoo clearly has a personal meaning for the star, one that she likes to keep for herself.
